We are so very excited to be comin' atcha with our FIRST POST! This will be the first of many so stick with us because this will be a learning process for sure. We are going to be using this blog for a plethora of reasons (go check out our About Us page to learn more!) but we have to start somewhere.
So.....why not start in ECUADOR!
I will be leaving for Ecuador this Tuesday, July 9th, to work at a retreat for the missionary kids of North and South America, and on the 14th I will be joined by my lovely sister, parents, and an amazing team of people eager to serve and make the name of Jesus famous. This will be my third trip, and the rest of my family's first trip (except for Abigail, she is not able to go this time). When the whole team gets there we will be working in an impoverished community, hosting a carnival and bible club, visiting a preschool and a dance ministry, hosting a women's and men's event, and doing various building projects around the community. Phew! What a list! It seems like a major undertaking for such a short amount of time, but I truly believe that we will be able to accomplish all these things and more through the power of God!
Some of you may be reading this and think, "I wish I could go on a trip like that," or something along those lines, but there is a way that you can partner with us for this trip...your prayers! We have compiled a list of things that you can pray for us and our team as we go.
1. Pray for our safety in travel on July 9th, 14th, and 21st. Psalm 4:8
2. Pray for God to open the hearts of the Ecuadorian people, for them to be receptive to the gospel, and that they will understand even with the language barrier. Matthew 28:19-20
3. Pray that our team is flexible even when plans quickly change, and that everyone will have good attitudes toward each other and the work we are doing. 1 Thessalonians 2:4
4. Pray that we will be able to meet the physical and spiritual needs of people we come in contact with. Philippians 4:19
5. Pray for the confidence of our team, that we will be able to share the love of Christ boldly, and speak the truth of the gospel. Acts 1:8
6. Pray that God will prepare our team physically to work and walk without being weary. Isaiah 40:29-31
Finally, pray that each of us will use the talents that God has uniquely gifted us with to serve Him and further His kingdom. Romans 12:6-8
"Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever! Amen" Ephesians 3:20-21
You can also pray for me as I head to camp with the High School in New Mexico! We leave Monday morning at 4AM...please pray for REST. I know it will be a great week of experiencing God's beautiful creation and hearing from him. Please pray for the students that they will be receptive to what he is trying to tell them and that we will bond as a group like never before!
Then, continue to pray for rest as I will only have about 5 hours to turn around and head to ECUADOR! I am so excited about this whirlwind of trips and I am even more excited to be sharing about them here. I don't know if I will have time to blog while I am at camp but I am definitely going to try (or at least do a recap post in between trips!)
